Almost ten months after quitting the
national football team, Super Eagles,
former captain and number one
goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama has revealed
that he is ready to return to the national
team if he is invited and if there is need to
do so.
The Lille OSC of France safehands
confirmed in series of comments on
Instagram on Thursday night that he was
not yet done playing and as a patriotic
Nigerian, if he is called on to return to the
team, he would.
Enyeama, who went down memory lane
posting a picture of the NFF’s celebration
of his 100th cap, said he would never
forget what it felt like to play in the Super
Eagles and to have achieved so much. He
has 101 caps for the Super Eagles after
manning the goal for 13 years, from 2002
to 2015.
“tbt#cant forget these numbers till
eternity#i cherish every of those minutes
that I earned#will forever love my
country#naija made me what I am
today#proudly naija,” he captioned a
picture of the celebration of his centenary
cap for the national team.
The player then followed with series of
comments in reply to fans, saying that the
country has no goal keeping problems at
the moment, indicating clearly that current
team number one, Carl Ikeme is doing fine.
He however noted that if there was any
need for a return, he would gladly do so.
“…Naija doesn’t have goalkeeping
problems. I will never say no to naija if
naija has goalkeeping problems.
“I will be back if there is a need to be back.
For now, naija got great goalies. Let’s
support them to make us proud.”
He then went on to emphatically confirm
his readiness to return to the national
team.
“I am not done serving yet. I am coming
back. I was born to serve my country. My
purpose in life is to affect my generation,
that I will do till the time God says ‘My son,
it’s time to come home’.”
Enyeama’s words are a reiteration of his
earlier vow in an interview with a national
daily that he would return to the Super
Eagles sometime in the future. Enyeama
retired from international football
suddenly in October 2015 after a bust up
with erstwhile chief coach, Sunday Oliseh
at the team’s camp in Europe.
