Following
heavy gun battle with dreaded cultist, the Nigerian Army 34 artillery
has confirmed the death of a notorious cult leader Charles Ojeoru, aka
Charlie boy.
The Army, who described Charles Ojeoru as a cultist, said he was the gang leader of a notorious group that mainly operated In Awara, Imodube and Ogwewe communities of the oil producing Ohaji Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State.
In a statement by the Assistant Director Army Public Relations, Imo state, Lieutenant Haruna Tagwai, he said the cultist died during a gun battle between the strike Force of 34 Artillery Brigade Obinze, and cultists in the area.
The Ohaji Egbema Local Government and the environs appear to be a regular attraction to cultists and other miscreants due to its oil rich nature.
However, the Army says a clearance operation was being carried out to cleanse the area, as well as Imo state in general.
Lieutenant Tagwai stated that some other members of the notorious gang had also sustained various degrees of injuries while some are still on the run. Nevertheless, they would not rest on their laurels until the criminals are apprehended.
He urged the general public to report to security agencies or any relevant information on sighting anyone or group of persons with gunshot wounds.

Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola’s sides come face to face at Old Trafford in tomorrow’s lunchtime clash.
A host of star names will be on show but Wenger is keen to spot any potential weaknesses in the two sides.
“We know by experience that on these kind of dates it’s the big players that make the difference.”
The Arsenal boss revealed he will record the game and watch it back over with a fine toothcomb.
He added: “I will look for the turning points in the game… the organisation, the decisions of the managers during the game.”
Wenger is unable to watch the game live because he will be preparing for tomorrow’s 3pm kick-off against Southampton.
